Ruskin Lace (starting April 2026) 3 dates

April 10th & 11th; June 5th & 6th; October 2nd & 3rd.
This distinctive form of lace is made with a needle and thread in linen fabric using a combination of drawn-thread and cut-linen work with the geometric designs being completed with needlepoint lace techniques specific to Ruskin Lace. Your tutor, Karen Quickfall, is the country’s leading expert on Ruskin Lace and recently published the book, ‘Ruskin Lace – A Complete Guide’. The course is suitable for both beginners (who can purchase a starter pack from the tutor) and those with more experience.
These are all two day workshops.

NICOLA JARVIS - Projects from her book 'Life in Seasons' (3-5th September 2026)
Maximum 12 places. All levels.
Nicola is an artist who combines drawing, painting and stitch to make her work. She has been active in the embroidery industry for 34 years, is a fellow of the Royal School of Needlework and holds a Commendation from the Beryl Dean Award for Excellence in Teaching.

MASAKO NEWTON (25th & 26th September, 2026)
Maximum 8 guests. Some embroidery experience required.
Project: Silk shading and Stumpwork Hellebore – three dimensional brooch.
Masako Newton FRSN (Fellow of Royal School of Needlework) is a London-based embroidery artist, originally from Japan. As a studio embroiderer for RSN Embroidery Studio, she has worked on many high-profile projects, but she also welcomes private commissions. She also teaches bespoke classes and private lessons on request.

MELISSA COKE-SMYTH - CREATIVE NEEDLEPOINT , Whimsy in Thread and Stitch. (over two weekends -October 16th/17th AND November 13th/14th)
Maximum 12 guests. All levels.
Project: Creative Needlepoint incorporating a range of foundational stitches while exploring the threads and fibres that make needlepoint so expressive.
Melissa was taught needlepoint by her great-grandmother at age five and has been teaching and designing for over 25 years in America and the UK. A graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, she spent years managing and teaching at Needlepoint of Back Bay in Boston, and now continues working with students from complete beginners to experienced stitchers.
Please note that this is a four day workshop over two weekends, one in October and the other in November, to allow participants to work on the design in between. It is perfect for complete beginners or those with some experience of embroidery.

Step into the opulent world of passementerie and discover the exquisite craft that once adorned the palaces of royalty.
The Tudor era was a time of glorious, rich textiles – passementerie and spectacular tassels among them, key features of wealthy Tudor interior design. Queen of Hearts, a brand new design created exclusively for this workshop, draws directly on these opulent tassels and their motifs, reimagined through a contemporary sensibility and a playful design spirit. This isn’t a historically accurate Tudor tassel, it’s one glorious, medium sized tassel, richly inspired by the past but designed for today, perfect for displaying on your curtains or anywhere you want a touch of drama at home.
This unique three-day workshop offers an extraordinary opportunity to learn from Elizabeth Ashdown, one of the UK’s last remaining Passementiers, renowned for reinventing endangered techniques into stunning contemporary objects.

DEENA BEVERLEY (May 6th -8th, 2027)

Deena Beverley is an internationally renowned textile artist, author and tutor specialising in richly layered, illustrative and impressionistic work using mixed media; notably found and vintage materials. Her work is collected worldwide, sought out for Deena’s innovative approach to classical methodologies including embroidery, quilting, collage, painting, drawing and more.
BOBBIN BORO DIARIES is a calming, intuitive, hand-stitch workshop suitable for all skill levels from beginner through to seasoned stitcher. Create a richly tactile, mixed media art journal around a beautiful vintage bobbin using materials from Deena’s personal collection of vintage treasures and incorporating your own cherished scraps.

SASHIKO with MASAKO NEWTON (May 21st -22nd, 2027)

Create your very own sashiko sampler with Masako Newton.
Masako is a London-based embroidery artist, originally from Japan. She’s a fellow of the Royal School of Needlework. Recent notable work includes new house curtains for the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
In this two-day workshop, you’ll dive into the world of sashiko—a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that translates to ‘little stabs’. Traditionally, sashiko was used to strengthen fabric and keep you warm. Nowadays, it’s a favourite for decorating household items and visible mending.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of their skill level.

BETH COLE (June 24th - 26th, 2027)
Designed exclusively for Cotswolds Textile Workshops you will create your own floral, hand embroidered, hardback notebook from start to finish. Using goldwork techniques alongside silk floss embroidery, you’ll stitch a beautiful design onto fabric before learning the techniques of bookbinding to transform it into a hard cover with a plain notebook inside. You’ll leave with a unique handcrafted notebook and the skills to continue exploring both embroidery and bookbinding.

NICOLA JARVIS (Sept 23rd-25th, 2027)
Nicola welcomes you into her golden Loveday Orchard, where we will stitch ripe fruit on the plum tree, work splendid plumage on a goldfinch and decorate leaves and flowers with silk threads, sequins and beads. Come and immerse yourself in the autumnal stitch fantasy of this opulent Tree of Life motif, worked in a wide range of stitches on a full colour printed ground with sparkling metal purls, shimmering silks and metallic filaments. Nicola will guide you through fascinating stitch techniques that build to create this beautiful scene of ‘mellow fruitfulness’.

CHRISSIE JUNO MANN (Oct 20th - 23rd, 2027)
Immerse yourself in a beautiful Cottage Garden filled with fruits and flowers, bugs and mini-beasts, brought to life in a soft, spring-like palette. Worked with Au Ver à Soie fine crewel wool and shimmering gold threads and beads, these panels offer a contemporary twist on the popular traditional Jacobean aesthetic—charming, colourful and a joy to stitch.

FLO COLLINGWOOD (NOV 5TH & 6TH 2027)
Embroider a purse with a word or name of your choosing using gold, ribbon and cotton threads in a variety of techniques. Worked on linen fabric, techniques will include couching over metal thread, surface stitches, appliqué and ribbon work.
